July 20 the Office Guy composed a blog note about change & how the events of the past six months have ushered in an enormous amount of it! This morning (July 21), Office Guy (OG) is communicating out another example: the changed form of this year’s Ironwood’s Iron Belle Bridges & Bluffs run. The following announcement from the organizing committee outlines the “virtual race” concept and where to register to participate. Fall colors along the Iron Belle Trail are spectacular! The Ironwood Chamber of Commerce is a monetary sponsor of B&B, and we remind folks that our Chamber webcam (soon to be TWO webcams!) will allow “the folks at home” to see participants as they pass by the Historic Ironwood Depot.
“Bridges & Bluffs is Going Virtual!! The pandemic has modified but not defeated the 2020 Bridges & Bluffs Half Marathon and 2-Mile races from Ironwood to Bessemer, MI scheduled for Sunday, September 27th. B&B is the main fundraiser for the Western Gateway to the Iron Bell Trail. The Trail’s purpose is to promote healthy outdoor exercise for residents and visitors to the Iron Range. Therefore, B&B is offering a virtual format at half price—$25–allowing participants the opportunity to still support our beautiful Iron Belle Trail. The race distance can be completed anywhere and anytime between August 1 – October 18! —reporting results will be on the honor system. On the day of the race, unmanned water stations will be set up along the course. Road crossings will not be guarded so participants must be alert for road traffic.”
