Saturday, January 27th saw the Norrie Club’s “Light Up The Night” Christmas tree burning event & fireworks. Usually this event features a snowshoe walk and a sledding hill. However, as Mr. Jack Frost continues his vacation from the U.P. (where does he go exactly? does he stay with his buddy, El Nino??), there were no great piles of snow to sled or even enough for a good snowshoe walk this year. Nevertheless, a good time was had by all who attended at the Norrie Club grounds as “Light Up The Night” brought to an official close the series of Jack Frost Festival of Wintertime Events which ran from November 16, 2023 to January 27th, 2024. Sadly, we had no snow for SISU Ski Fest (cancelled), and almost no snow for snowmobile trials and ski hills. Looking ahead to Jack Frost 2024 (begins November 21, 2024 with the Depot Tree Lighting), one hopes that Mr. Frost takes leave of his Peruvian vacation and returns U.P. here so that we can all enjoy the full beauty of a snowy winter-wonderland!
